About Suzanne

Suzanne Scurlock-Durana, C.M.T, C.S.T.-D (Reston, Virginia). For more than 25 years, Suzanne has taught and mentored in the area of conscious awareness and its relationship to the healing process. She has developed a unique approach to energy, presence, grounding and integrative exercises taught beautifully in the Healing From the Core program, which includes a six level training series and a complementary audio series. All of this is based on her years of experience helping fellow health-care practitioners hold a healing space for themselves, as well as developing their own therapeutic presence for clients and patients. She is passionate about teaching people practical skills that allow them to feel the joy of being present in each moment of their lives, without burning out. To that end, she has just completed a book and companion CD, Full-Body Presence: Explorations, Connections and More to Experience Present Moment Awareness.

Since 1986, she has been a certified instructor of CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release with The Upledger Institute, teaching both nationally and internationally. She is also on the faculty at Esalen Institute, and provides ongoing staff development training there, as well as collaborating regularly with Emilie Conrad, integrating Continuum movement and healing presence.

Known for her honest, grounded and nurturing manner, Suzanne assists others in going to the heart of their healing process. She is adept at weaving together mind, body and spirit to create a unique environment where profound healing can occur. To accomplish this, she draws on her wealth of experience as a professional, teacher and therapist, a wife and mother, and generously shares from all areas of her life.

A sought-after speaker in her field, Suzanne inspires health-care practitioners, coaches, teachers and caregivers all over the world to stay energized using her life-changing tools for stress management and full-body presence. She also has authored numerous articles, and thousands visit her popular blog, “Presence Matters: Reflections on Body, Mind and Spirit” at http://massagemag.com/massage-blog/presence-matters. She has a private practice in Reston, Virginia, where her clients also benefit from the techniques she teaches. Contact her at www.healingfromthecore.com.

I attended my first HFC workshop in Mpls recently, and have already found it so helpful in my CST practice (and nursing career as well). Kathy Burns was our instructor, and is a wonderful teacher. I was able to access strengths I knew were down there somewhere and rooted them out of hiding with grounding and filling, and the other exercises.

I was working with a client today who was able to experience an absence of pain t/o the majority of her treatment. She has had no pain-free moments since hurting her back several years ago and has had several back surgeries since, which have only led to further vertebral fractures.

Thank-you for putting your learning experiences into a format so easy to access.

Please add me to your mailing list,
    Nancy Prusi RN

    Hi Suzanne,
Please add me to your mailing list. I have never had the opportunity to take a class with you but I’ll add that to my goals. I’ve taken CST 1 and 2 with Eric and it was awesome and a little overwhelming. I really enjoyed your story of your clients’ healing from MS. How inspirational! Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Suzanne
I just found your website – it’s beautiful! And I love your blog page. Nice layout and easy to read. And your insights are worth a million! I hope lots of people find your gifts to us here. I’ve missed not being able to TA with you recently, so this site will keep me up to date with your news.

I spent this past summer getting my website up – no easy feat when therapy work takes up all my time, so I can appreciate yours even more. Like you, I wanted my blog page to share my thoughts with others but I haven’t had time to write, and I don’t know where you find time in your crazy-busy life.
So, well done! And thank you.

If you have time, take a look at my site. And if you know anyone who wants info on aromatherapy oils, you can send them my way…
Hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that 2008 brings blessings and love and health.
    Lots of love-
    Sue

On this day, especially today, I needed to hear exactly that message, and so I thank you for sharing the importance of resilience. My husband is that wonderful caring male figure in my life with great resilience…..and yes, your words and his presence in my life indeed inspireme to do the same! Thank you!
    best,
