Martine has always been fascinated by the human body. Starting out as a Registered Nurse in Holland twelve years ago, Martine had just warmed up to her extensive study of the body, mind and spirit. While working as a nurse, she studied Psychology and Massage Therapy, earning herself a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a National Certification in Massage Therapy.
Since her National Certification in Holland eight years ago, Martine has been focusing on the art of massage therapy because this is where her true passion is. She worked several years as a massage therapist in Amsterdam, setting up a successful private practice, before moving to Los Angeles in 2005.
In Los Angeles, Martine felt like she had moved to massage paradise. She worked for several luxury mobile spas before starting her own mobile massage practice. Delivering expert massage services to clients and working with like-minded therapists in a positive and inspiring way is her number one goal. Martine and her team work with a broad variety of clients, from medical patients and children to professional athletes, musicians and A-list celebrities. Her home base is Los Angeles, but she is slowly expanding her services to New York.
When Martine was asked to work with some of her client’s children, her passion for child massage was born. Even though she loves massaging babies and children, no touch is more desirable for a child then the loving touch of a parent. This led her to teaching massage techniques to parents and to become a certified infant massage instructor with the International Association of Infant Massage in 2005. She recently finished writing her book Mommy, Draw Stars on My Tummy: Rhymes, Songs and Touch-Play Activities to Stay Connected, a book that reinforces the loving bond between parents/caregivers and their children through loving touch and play. The book will be published November 1st 2009 by PT Book Publishing.
