I have been a full time massage therapist since 1987 in downtown Seattle.
Most of my practice is doing injury work and stress reduction.
I also am the creator of www.thebodyworker.com which I started back in 1999 where I explore the theory and practice of massage and bodywork. It is basically everything I learned in massage school.
My other website www.massagetherapycareers.com that I started in 2002 has just recently been sold to a developer. (Sept 08) It was focused on helping people decide if they want to become a massage therapists as well as how to choose a massage school and how to be successful as a massage therapist. I will now be developing a new site on massage careers and a separate massage school guide.
My sites bring in additional income - a much needed supplement to every massage business or any career or job for that matter. Having multiple streams of income can help you feel more secure and help you to take the steps you need to take to start your massage business or find your ideal massage job.
My mission is to help other massage therapists be successful in building a massage business or creating a job for themselves and to learn to move through the struggles associated with doing that with the support that they need. I lead supervision groups online and in the Seattle area which focus on the development of the massage therapist. When a massage therapist has the support they need it helps build the self confidence and self esteem that is the basis for a successful massage business. You can be reading and learning and even doing everything possible and still not be as successful as you want in the massage profession.
