Laura Allen is a nationally certified massage therapist and body worker, and an approved provider of continuing education under the NCBTMB. She is the author of the Plain & Simple Guide to Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork Certification (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, end ed, 2009), and One Year to a Successful Massage Therapy Practice (LWW, 2008) and has a new book coming out, also from Lippincott, that will be published in 2010. Laura acts as a business consultant to massage schools, instructors and individual therapists who need assistance in setting and meeting goals. Laura enjoys doing research and is a past recipient of AMTA’s Community Service Grant for her work with people in comas and persistent vegetative states.
Laura is currently serving a five-year term on the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy. She is the current North Carolina Delegate to the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. She is a frequent contributor to Massage Magazine, Massage & Bodywork, Massage News, and many electronic venues.

Laura is also a singer, songwriter and musician who has been performing for more than thirty years and has appeared on public radio, public television, and numerous recordings. She enjoys playing music with her friends for joy and stress relief. Â
