Who are Your Teachers?
We are being taught every day. Not only that, we choose who we learn from. Very often, this is done not by conscious choice, but by default. We learn from whatever we allow into our minds, whatever we expose ourselves to. With this in mind, what are you watching on television? What are you exposing yourself to? Think back to what you watched on TV in the past week, and answer these two questions, “Who are your Your Teachers?”and “What have they taught you?”
So much of what we expose ourselves to on TV teaches us about a violent world, a world that we are helpless to change. It teaches us that we are victims of the economy, of nature, of society. This message is learned subconsciously. This is what we bring with us into the treatment room.
This can be easily remedied. What do you want to learn? Do you want to learn about the power you have to build the practice of your dreams? Do you want to learn how your thoughts shape your environment? Do you want to learn how change your life? All you have to do is choose different teachers.
Among my teachers are Brian Tracy, Eckhart Tolle, Stephen Covey, Zig Ziglar, the teachers in “The Secret”, Napoleon Hill and many more. I limit how much news I watch, read or listen to. I limit how much TV I watch. I expose myself to those teachings that tell me that I can grow, I can achieve, and I can become. I recognize that my success in life begins with my thoughts, so I immerse myself in those teachings that help me change my thoughts.
I invite you to comment on this post and share who your teachers are. Who has influenced you? What have you learned from them? I am very interested in what you have to say.
’til next time,
Woody

I learn something, from somebody, every day. Sometimes it’s a client, sometimes it’s a student, it might even be someone on Twitter. And like you, I don’t watch that much television. I try to read things that will enhance my mind and my spiritual growth.
I feel one important thing I have learned is to question everything! I know now that a lot of what I learned in massage school is not true! People have a tendency to believe whatever the teacher is telling them and blindly accept it. I don’t do that anymore.
I don’t just want to know the teacher’s name; I want to know how they got where they are and what it is that makes them an expert. I want to especially know why I should spend my money to listen to them.
I have had some of the same teachers as you, Woody, but the one that resonates with me the most, and always makes sense regarding the Law of Attraction, is the messages of Abraham, as channeled through Esther Hicks.
I also DO NOT watch TV, movies, or allow people to tell me about “horrible” circumstances that may tend to pull me off center for a bit. I do hear some news, but if someone insists on going on and on about negative things, I will stop them. It’s easier to not go there than to have to find a better thought afterwards.
I will agree there is little on tv to enhance our lives, I do love John Stewart though. I spent the last 11 months in school 3 nights a week and graduated. Now I want to sign up for more school or learning experience. My teachers were great and have sparked a desire to learn more about the human body. Take care, Mark
